The ocelot is a medium-sized spotted cat with elongated rosettes and bold markings. Smaller than pumas and jaguars, it plays an important role as a predator of small to medium mammals, birds and reptiles.

Leopardus pardalis
It uses dense vegetation, tropical forest, edges and riparian areas. Mostly nocturnal and crepuscular, it is solitary and secretive, resting by day in thick cover or branches. Its diet includes opossums, rodents, rabbits, birds, reptiles and other available vertebrates.
